There is a reason for that--these folks make this place what it is. From their gracious tour of the grounds to their final goodbyes, these two made our stay extra special! Wolf's cooking is delightful (my husband says it was THE BEST chicken parm he's ever had), Maureen's service is top notch, and left us wanting for nothing, and we had use of bikes, waters, towels--really anything we needed! This place is quaint but relaxing, cozy yet spacious, and quiet yet friendly. I'd highly recommend visiting here. It's a great hub to explore Flagler, with restaurants in walking/biking distance. We stayed at Sherwood forest over half term with our two children. We had an exclusive lodge - old style and whilst it was nice to have the car parked nearby, the accomodation in my opinion really was not value for money. The lodge was on two floors and the ground floor living area was very cramped. The kitchen is quite small and old fashioned and the door to the fridge needed some attention. The hob and oven are vey old and just had one temperature - very hot!! The dining area had no lighting above the table, so it made mealtimes very dark and the lounge area had a sofa and one chair which was supposed to be large enough for 8 people, which it clearly wasn't. The rest of the ground floor was taken up with steam rooms, one bedroom, sauna and then a large hottub outside. We didn't use any of those. The brick built BBQ's are a nightmare - you are only allowed the disposable BBQ's that are sold in the shop but these are pathetic and not worth using. Really don't understand why they can't have hotplates or even gas.
